It was a cold day for our second group harvest, but the much needed rain from yesterday was gone at least!
It's mostly fresh greens that are ready for the picking at this time of year. This includes kale, beetroot leaves, various lettuce and bok choi amongst other produce.
Kale - The Super Food
As the kale was going gang busters, there was lots of discussion on how best to eat kale. The general consensus was to hide it in various ways. But Vicki suggested we all should try a kale recipe she has. It's simple, only needs a few ingredients and is very quick to make. This recipe will be our first recipe to feature in our new Recipe Page. As the seasons change and new produce comes into season, we will be adding relevant recipes.
Sandra provided the group with various pots so we can all get some veges growing at home. If you grow tomatoes, capsicum or chilli from seed, you can start the seeds growing now provided you give them some protection from frost. This will give you a head start on your spring planting preparation.
